The keyword for life nowadays is balans, yoga in combination with sports can help you with it. Thats why w combine different types of meditation and yoga styles with outdoor sports in our adventure yoga retreat.
The world is becoming more and more demanding. Our jobs expect us to do more stuff in less time. And the media let us believe we all have to look like supermodels. Especially just before summertime gyms and extreme diets are very popular. Unfortunately the biggest effect of this is frustration and stress.
We believe yoga, outdoor sports and mediation are part of the answer for a more balanced and healthy life. Yoga is not only good for your body but even more a way to achieve mindfulness. And sports can ben another way to achieve the same goal. So our goal this week to feel healthy, balanced and happy with yourself.
Nutrition is a big part of a healthy lifestyle. Our meals are mostly vegetarian and diner is made by our guest, because we believe cooking together creates a sense of togetherness and is also a form of mindfulness.
yoga and active outdoor:
In our adventure yoga retreat every day starts with a warming yoga lesson, yang style. On the chalkboard you can than read what the outdoor activity this day is. This can be rock climbing, survivaling, adventure run, mountain biking etc. This activities or optional, you can always choose to take another relaxing day when your body requires this.

yoga and hiking/ trailrunning: (special option)
In this 6-day yoga active yoga retreat every day has 2 yoga lessons and you can also choose to do a guided hike or trailrun. This hike or trailrun will bring you on amazing spots in the beautiful nature of Sierra de las Nieves. And while we have 2 guides the group will be parted in 2 levels (when needed)

As well as in live there are in yoga 2 streams of energy: Yin and Yang. This are Chinese words for the two energy flows in our live and one needs the other. (there's no light without dark or no white without black etc.)
yin yoga: (translation will following in a minute)
Yin yoga is all about total relaxation and letting go of tension. You'll stay in a position for several minutes and without force you'll sink in to it. Whit the help of your own breathing and gravity you get tension even from your connective tissue. Because space is getting more and more place in your body, energy can flow again threw your meridianen. Yin yoga is therefor seen as the feminine force. This form of yoga is also very benificial to stay in balance for power and endurance sports, because they use mostly the contractive force.
yang yoga / hatha yoga:
Yang yoga has multiple forms but al are active, more dynamic forms of yoga for example: power yoga yoga, asthanga yoga, vinyasa yoga and hatha yoga. With Yang yoga you'll build op power and endurance in your body. Its the male seen as the male energy in yoga. Position are on power and don't last that long. This yoga will give you warmth, strength and energy.
The classic Hatha yoga asanas have the of stimulation of the intern organs. It's characterised by asanas which are stable and comfortable for a short while. Hatha yoga increased popularity and new asanas were developed. This new asanas are working more on the extern body, like the mussels. The new goal was getting strong and fit.
Meditation comes in several forms during our yoga retreat in Spain. Next to the more standard forms on the mat we'll also offer walking meditation for example. We believe that meditation will benefit everybody to find more quiteness but that the form, place and duration is depending on the person and the moment/state of being your in. So don't make meditation into a competition against your self or others, where the winner will be the one who can sit still for hours. This is not the goal! Find stillness and awareness for yourself is, and this will be achieved in different ways. We'll guide you during this proces.
Nutrition is one of the 3 things we build our yoga retreat in Spain on. The tree healthy meals are included and vegan and vegetarion option are possible. We believe making diner together has two positive things: you'll learn from each other, it's fun. Also we only have pure products in the kitchen which all you can use freely. This benefits your body in a natural way and preparing food together makes you more aware of the nutrition and value of food.
Trail running or hiking:
We take you to beautiful places in the nature of Sierra de las Nieves. We can hike to the highest point of Torrecilla or take long walks/runs choosing one of the many "senderos" of Andalusie.
The hike or trailrun will be guided and you can choose for the option trail run or a long hike every day. If you rather walk alone, we can provide you several routes on GPS.
During our adventure yoga retreat it's possible to take part of several outdoor activities which we organise daily. of course you can also choose to relax or do whatever you want in the beautiful surrounding. The activities will take part in the time between the morning and afternoon yoga. You can do: rock climbing, hiking, trail running, survival etc. More information you can find on our page about our outdoor holiday

Yoga teacher Jeannette Smelt, who lives the sportive and healthy live style, takes you to this outdoor retreat in the stunning environment of Andalusie, Spain. A moment away from your daily routine to find balans again! Bert and Grietje will invite you in there place in the middle of the natural surrounding of Sierra de las Nieves. Nature is still nature out here. Living, sporting, doing yoga and cooking TOGETHER makes this outdoor retreat unique. You'll find peace, energy and will return home inspired after a week.
Kind of yoga?
Jeannette will teach several yoga styles. In the morning a combination of Easy Flow Yoga and Power Yoga. And for the active people under us; come and join the "Run with Yoga" lessons. In this lessons you'll get to know breathing techniques that will benefit your running. Or join the outdoor activity which wil be different every day. In the evening will do relaxing Yin Yoga and after diner you can join us for a walk and/or meditation session.

New year retreat
In our special new year retreat there will be more room for meditation and closing the year ceremonies. During our yoga and meditation we'll try to answer questions like: " what do you want to keep and what do you want to get rid of" On new years eve will have a special Sjamanistic fire ceremony in which we'll bring our "to burn" stuff to the fire.
The fire ceremony is used by many tribes to find the beat of heart of Mother Nature, a moment of stillnes/thoughtfullness, with the fire as a friend to empower intensions or a turning point.
In this 6-day new year retreat the 2-daily yoga lessons, daily possibility to an outdoor activity, a food workshop, a fire ceremony and 3 healthy meals a day or included.
